40 Firefighters Battle Blaze That Started In Bedroom Of Westchester Home

Dozens of firefighters were called into action on Sunday afternoon to battle a one-alarm blaze that broke out in the bedroom of a two-story Westchester home.

Fire crews responded to an Eisenhower Drive home shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, when a family reported a fire had broken out in a bedroom on the second floor.

Yonkers Deputy Chief of Personnel Daniel Flynn said that approximately 40 firefighters responded to the home and were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The home suffered “heavy fire damage” in the bedroom and there was “significant smoke and water damage” throughout the house. The flames were knocked down and fire declared under control within an hour.

The scene was cleared by 5:10 p.m., Flynn noted.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury battling the fire. The family was able to evacuate the home safely and no other injuries were reported. The fire remains under investigation. Check Daily Voice for updates.
